How Do I Whiten Dentures?

Wanting our teeth to look better is very natural. This can be down to a number of different factors that affect the appearance of them. One of the most common areas to improve is the colour or shade of the teeth. This can be very true for both natural teeth and also dentures. Dentures are “false teeth” that are made for patients who need to replace their missing teeth.

We can lose teeth for a number of reasons, at any age, but it doesn’t mean you have to settle for a gappy smile. If you have dentures already and your not happy with the shade, unfortunately, conventional teeth whitening (that dentists offer) will only work on natural teeth. Porcelain false teeth cannot be whitened by this method.

However, that doesn’t mean you have to settle for a shade you are not happy for. During the process of making new dentures we are able to show you the different shades of tooth colour we can use and you can directly influence the end result we create. It is important to ensure that you are happy with the shade of the denture as once it has been made, we are unable to whiten the teeth, without replacing them completely with new teeth.

We believe in creating natural dentures that compliment the patient wearing them. We will always try to custom make a denture that suits the patient we are treating. So for a more elderly patient the most perfect white teeth may not be the most ideal treatment, as this will look more fake and less natural for the patients age. We always use the patients input to ensure that they are happy with the way the denture is going before it is finally made.
