Cleaning your dentures is an important part of having false teeth. Just like your natural teeth, false teeth will also need to be cleaned on a daily basis.
As bacteria would build up on your natural teeth and then proceed to actively attack healthy teeth which could then lead to eventual problems, the same will happen with dentures. Not only can they damage your false teeth, but also putting a denture into your mouth that is not clean, could increase the chance of an infection (as you will effectively be putting bacteria into your mouth).
Because your dentures are fragile, it is important to take extra care when cleaning them. Our sink basins are hard ceramic stands that if a denture is dropped into, they can easily fracture and break. When cleaning your dentures it can easily become slippy in your hands and this may increase the risk of dropping them. To counteract any potential accidents, you can try putting a soft towel into the basin to pad the landing in the event of an accident.
When cleaning your dentures, use warm soapy water to carefully clean them. There are denture soaking solutions that can be used to soak your dentures in (please rinse off before putting in your mouth). It is also advised to not wear your dentures overnight and to leave them in a glass of water (as they need to remain moist).
