Fake teeth refers to teeth that are not naturally yours but can be used to replace missing teeth. One of the ways to do so is through the use of dentures.

Dentures are custom made fake teeth that consist of a base which has been made to fit your exact measurements. The closer and more snug a fit the base is, the more comfortable and enjoyable the dentures will be. The base will then be fully loaded with the fake teeth which will allow you to eat and talk as normal.

How Are The Dentures Made?

The first step is to take impressions of the patients mouth to ensure that the denture that is made, will fit well and be comfortable. Quite often it may be recommended that before the final denture is made, a training plate is worn so the patient can see what it will be like to have the final restoration.

From the impressions the clinical dental technician will custom make the denture for the patient. A second impression appointment may be required where the dental technician will take a second set of impressions (after the healing period, if tooth extractions had happened) to fine tune the dentures.

Try in Stage

There will be a try in stage where the clinical dental technician will see you to try in the custom made denture. This part of the process is to see how well the denture will fit and if there needs to be any fine refinements before the final denture is made.

If the denture is ready to be finalised, the final restoration will be made ready for the patient to wear their new fake teeth.
