Losing teeth at any age can be a very upsetting experience. Not only are the gaps unsightly in your mouth, but it can also have an affect on how you eat and talk. Your remaining teeth can also start to move towards a gap in your mouth, causing them to be crooked. One change that does happen but isn’t as obvious as the teeth moving, is the affects it can have on your jawbone. The bodies natural response to a lost tooth is for the bone in that area to fade away (bone resorption) which can then have a knock on effect of making your surrounding teeth loosening up over time, and in the worst case scenario, they could start to fall out as well.

What Are Partial Dentures?

Partial dentures are exactly as they sound. They are dentures that will partially replace teeth. So these are used in cases that have lost multiple teeth and do not require complete dentures.

All of our dentures (whether complete or partial) are custom made to fit the patients exact measurements in their mouth. What this means is, the denture will act and look more like your natural teeth than a denture that hasn’t been made to fit your mouth. It is very important that any denture you have, are made with your mouth in mind. The main complaints we often find new patients coming to us with, are that their denture is not very comfortable and doesn’t fit well.

Denture Relines

In cases of ill fitting dentures, it might be a case of relining the denture so it fits your mouth snugly. In the event a denture reline is not possible, a new denture may be required.
